Talking Book

My wife Anne and I are recent Southern-transplants, hoping to start a wine culture here in North Carolina. Old Uncle Julius who, though free, more or less came with the purchased plot of land, keeps us entertained with his stories of “conjurers” and all that sort of local superstition. I must wonder sometimes if the stories do harm to my dear Anne, but I believe her sensible enough to know a “goopher” from a grapevine.
