This is an experiment undertaken by members of English 494 at Hunter College in Spring 2018 and English 321 in Spring 2019. The course is called “Blackness and Inscription,” and here we are transforming a number of Charles Chesnutt’s “conjure tales” from the 1890s into a game using the Ivanhoe concept originated at the University of Virginia by Jerome McGann and Johanna Drucker, et al., in the early 2000s. We are using the Ivanhoe theme for WordPress created recently at UVAs Scholars Lab.
