Journal Entry for Ain’ de Same
My intent is to create a dialogue between Julius and Tom. Through this dialogue, Julius is able to become a mentor-like figure for Tom: who is only a teenager. With Chestnutt’s characterization, it is difficult to affirm the validity of Julius’ statements while he is in direct contact with John and Annie. A private moment between elder and youth could, potentially, create space for Julius to educate Tom on his past experiences.
