Julius and the Horse
·
Today I ran into Julius as I was looking to buy a new horse. I showed him one that I was looking at and asked what he thought about it. Julius looked at me very intently before he proceeded to tell me that it was indeed a nice horse but that if I wanted to get it, it was up to me. He then looked down and said he personally wouldn’t.
I asked him about it and he said it was just some silly notion he had in his head that I probably would not care about. Curious to hear him out, I asked him to continue and say what he had been meaning to. Julius then told me it’s bad luck to buy a new horse at the end of the week but it is believed to grow tired soon and not live as long. I told him that was ridiculous and had nothing to do with the horse’s strength and health. But, he just nodded along and said I probably know best with a look on his face like he felt bad for me.
Here he goes again, trying to get me to believe all his made-up tales. Julius is always so superstitious, and it’s been really rubbing off on Anne which I do not appreciate. I wish he would stop filling her mind with crazy thoughts. He knows I am not a fan. Before I left, I studied the horse and started thinking it limped, so I decided to just come back tomorrow, Monday, for it.
“That way they could take better care of him”, I told Julius.
